After spending seven years in a Florida prison on cocaine trafficking charges, Buju Banton has finally returned to the stage. Buju’s most recent concert in Kingston, Jamaica saw the artist dressed in a full white outfit performing all of his classic reggae hits. Most poignant during the set was Buju’s performance of his song “Not an easy Road” as his adoring fans welcomed him back to his homeland. And it certainly hasn’t been an easy road for Buju as he was incarcerated, separated from his family and children while in jail, and presumably lost years worth of music making and financial gain. One of the most special moments of the Long Walk to Freedom concert was the fireworks display that lit up the Jamaica’s night sky in celebration of Buju’s return. It feels good to say that one of Jamaica’s finest musicians is back doing what he loves most, making great music.

We waited 8 years, 9 months, 27 days, 7 hours, 26 minutes and 5 seconds for @bujuofficial to be released from prison (inside ting from the concert). I didn’t record a whole lot because between backstage and in the crowd, I had a legendary and enchanted time. To see all of us artistes, fans, media, friends and family support this historical occasion was nothing less than the magical night you thought it might be. This is what the whole evening felt like, for those who were not present. @bujuofficial you put on one of the best shows/events the world has seen in a long time! Big up @waynemarsheezy @agentsasco @tarrusrileyja @machelmontano @kesthebandofficial @tumabasa @gilgreen @therontheron_ @walshyfire @duttypaul @spexdaboss @jazzytjamaica @oldmanebro @iamroberttownsend @versesimmonds @johnpwheatley @iamsafaree @Konshens and the countless others that I ran into last night. @sharonburkesolidagency Big up yourself.
