Jay-Z & Paramount Network Collaborate To Tell The Tragic Story Of Trayvon Martin

The tragic story of the murder of young Trayvon Martin shocked the entire Country. The sheer violence which was expressed in his murder, caused many American’s to question if the Country needed stricter gun laws. But, the most profound question still remains: what—exactly—happened to Trayvon Martin on what would be his final night?

Six years after the death of young Trayvon, Jay-Z has joined forces with Paramount Network to deliver his story to the world. Rest in power: The Trayvon Martin Story will delve deeply into the details of what occurred on the night of his slaying.

The voices of Trayvon and his family have not gone unnoticed. Events that led to Trayvon’s death at the hand of George Zimmerman, played an integral part in the Black Lives Matter Movement. People throughout the Country joined forces to raise awareness of the fact that all people should be treated equally. And, as we close Black History Month 2018, we will be reminded of what it looks like when such equality is not taken into consideration.

On Monday (February, 26th), Paramount Network released a 26-second trailer for the upcoming docu-series. The series will deal with more than just Trayvon’s tragic death, but will also shed light on the surrounding factors such as race, politics, power, money, and the American criminal justice system, which all played a large part in the life and death of Trayvon Martin.

The six-part docu-series is based on the book Martin’s parents co-wrote: Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin. Jay-Z serves as Executive Producer on the non-scripted project. Also joining Jay is Sybrina Fulton, Chachi Senior, Michael Gasparro, Jenner Furst, Julia Willoughby Nason, and Nick Sandow.
