Desert Daze’s annual dosing in the desert takes place this October with an already can’t miss lineup featuring current psychedelic heavyweights Tame Impala, My Bloody Valentine, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and Death Grips. However, this week the festival added even more gold when they unveiled their final lineup additions, Phase 4, which included Slowdive, modern West Coast psychedelic rockers Woodjin Ships, and Los Angeles based bands Death Valley Girls and L.A. Witch.
Slowdive hail from Reading, Berkshire and solidified themselves as not only masters of the shoegaze genre but a band destined to live forever with the release of their critically acclaimed second album, Soulvaki. Their addition to the lineup, along with Sunday night headliners My Bloody Valentine, makes this an essential weekend pilgrimage for anyone seeking the wall-of-sound and dream pop mecca.
One thing which makes Desert Daze a special experience is the curator’s attention to the undercard and this year proves to be no exception. Besides the headliners, Desert Daze brings the heat with proven talent such as Ty Segall & White Fence, Earth performing their classic album The Bees Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull, Preoccupations (or the band formerly known as Viet Cong), Britpop Prince Jarvis Cocker who is Introducing Jarvis Is… (whatever this means is anyone’s guess), and Pond.
Desert Daze goes down October 12-14 at the gorgeous Moreno Beach at Lake Perris in Southern California. Check out the full lineup below.
